F
Connectors |
|
|
The
F type is a 75Ω connector that operates
in frequency ranges up to 1 GHz.
Designed without its own inner |
|
conductor,
the F plug connects with the jack by
using the stripped end of the cable it
is attached to as its own |
|
center
contact. Not requiring the gold center
pin dramatically reduces its inner
manufacturing costs, but using |
|
the
inner wire core of the cable as
conductor can also make it more subject
to corrosion than other coaxial
|
|
connectors.
However, if cared for correctly, the
type F can provide a very reliable
connection, and this has |
|
made
it very popular in CATV as well as
satellite TV applications. |
